• Degree Requirements

  Baccalaureate degree at an accredited United States, U.S. territory, or Canadian college or university, or its equivalent prior to matriculation. CWRU does not accept online degrees.

• Required Courses

  Survey courses for non-science majors are not accepted. CWRU recommends that students retake prerequisite coursework in which a grade C was earned to improve their GPA.

  • Biochemistry-One Semester (Advanced Course Preferred)

    • Avoid blended biochemistry courses such as biochemistry/organic chemistry

    • Will NOT Fulfill Requirement: Bioengineering

  • Human Anatomy with Lab-One Semester (Advanced Course Preferred)

    • Will NOT Fulfill Requirement: Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy Embryology, Neuroanatomy, Developmental Anatomy

  • Human Physiology-One Semester (Advanced Course Preferred)

    • Will NOT Fulfill Requirement: Mammalian Physiology and Embryology

  Note: One Semester of combined Human Anatomy & Physiology with Lab may be accepted in lieu of One Semester of Human Anatomy with Lab and One Semester of Physiology. These two prerequisites may be taken separately or combined.

    • The following classes will NOT fulfill requirement: Bioengineering, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Genetics, and Histology

  • Organic Chemistry with Lab-One Semester (Two semesters is preferred, but not required)

  • General Physics with Lab-One Year Course Sequence (Algebra or Calculus based)

  • Calculus-One Semester (Precalculus and Survey of Calculus will not fulfill requirement)

  • Advanced Statistics-One Semester (Preferably for the life or health sciences, and with a Calculus I prerequisite-Elementary or basic courses will not fulfill this requirement. AP Statistics will not fulfill this requirement.)

  • Engilish with Expository Writing-One Semester

    • Also fulfilled with other expository writing courses in the humanities

    • If sciences courses included extensive writing components, then those courses will also fulfill this requirement.

    Note: If a lab was included in a course but is not listed on your transcript, you must provide proof that the lab was completed. Official course description from institution’s website showing that a lab was included with the course will be sufficient and can be uploaded to the Documents page in CASAA.

• Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

  • AP Statistics is no longer accepted to fulfill the Advanced Statistics prerequisite

  • Accepted for prerequisites if score received on AP Exam is 4 or 5, and a grade of B- or higher in high school AP class

  • Proof of AP score report and high school transcript required
