Entry Requirements

Nova Southeastern University’s Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences has created a two semester post-baccalaureate certificate program for prospective students of NSU’S MSA program who wish to strengthen their application and science background. Applicants must have previously applied to Nova Southeastern University's MSA programs and not been granted a seat.

Applicants to the Post-Bacc program must have met admissions requirements for the anesthesia programs at Nova Southeastern University. As such, the below requirements are the same as the MSA’s program admissions requirements for all campuses.

GRE/MCAT: Both Accepted, Scores Within 5 years

Application

  • GPA (Minimum): 2.75
    GPA (Mininum Preferred): 3.2

    Effective for the entering class of Summer 2027 (Application Cycle 2026-2027), the minimum GPA for admissions will increase to a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

  • Baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized and regionally accredited college or university

  • Grade C or Higher. Intro, Survey, or Business Courses Not Accepted. No expiration date on prerequisites.

    As of January 2024 for Incoming Students for Winter 2025 and Summer 2025:

    • English Composition or Literature Course-3 semester hours

    • Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab-4 semester hours

    • Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab-4 semester hours

    • Chemistry with Lab-8 semester hours

    • Organic Chemistry with Lab-4 semester hours

    • Biochemistry-3 semester hours

    • Gen. Physics with Lab-Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus based-8 semester hours (Algebra-Based College Physics Does Not Meet Requirements and Will Not Be Accepted)

    • Calculus-3 semester hours

    In lieu of combined Anatomy and Physiology I and II with Labs:
    Anatomy with Lab-4 semester hours and
    Physiology with Lab-4 semester hours

    • Biology I and II with Labs- 8 semester hours

    • Biochemistry Lab- 1 semester hour

    • Cell & Molecular Biology - 3 semester hours

    • Microbiology with Lab- 4 semester hours

    • Organic Chemistry II with Lab - 4 semester hours

  • Accepted if on official transcript with course subject name and earned semester hours on official transcripts

  • For applicants who wish to strengthen their application and science background, they may consider the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Anesthesiologist Assistant Studies.

    This two-semester certificate program is a limited application program.

    In order to be eligible to apply for the Post-Bacc program, applicants must have submitted a CASAA application to NSU from the prior year admission cycle and met admissions requirements.

    This program is designed to offer the opportunity to demonstrate the academic qualities and gain skills necessary to be admitted to NSU’s Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
